SANTA CRUZ USED 1993 TONY RICE CUSTOM GUITAR - BUILT FOR TONY RICE
1993 Santa Cruz Guitar Company Tony Rice Custom Guitar
Built in 1993 by Richard Hoover for Tony Rice, the specs of Tony's 1935 D-28 were used as a guide. This guitar features a chosen German spruce top, chosen Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and the well recognized custom 4-9/16" soundhole.
In a handwritten letter (included with this guitar), Tony writes, "This guitar has been used by me more so than any other Cruz both in public performance and reording projects. It has been used by me in public performance in collaboration with such artists as Norman Blake, Doc Watson, J.D. Crowe, Doyle Lawson, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck etc. just to name but a few such notable musical talents."
Tony also writes, "Its performance was particularly satisfying to me on the Bluegrass Album Band Vol 6 ... On that particular recording event it was used in conjunction with my 1935 Martin D-28 and I defy the listener to distinguish one guitar from the other.
